No firewall is currently enabled on our side for this VPS.

By default, we do not block any ports. If a port is unreachable, check your operating system firewall first.

For an extra layer of protection, you can enable the ctrl Network Firewall. This optional filter sits on our side of the network, before traffic reaches your server’s operating system.

Your OS firewall (UFW, firewalld, iptables, etc.) still applies afterward.
Both layers must allow a port for that port to be reachable.
You can turn this off anytime. Saved rules are kept.

Inbound traffic passes through the ctrl Network Firewall before reaching your VPS and its OS firewall (such as UFW, firewalld, or iptables). If a port is blocked, you may need to allow it in both places.

Yes. These RackNerd VPS specials are lifetime recurring. You can renew at the same rate for as long as you decide to keep the service.

What is RackNerd ctrl?

ctrl is RackNerd’s modern control panel, included with every RackNerd VPS special. After your VPS deploys, ctrl is where you manage it: reboot, reinstall the operating system, open an out-of-band HTML5 VNC console, install one-click apps, set inbound rules with the ctrl Network Firewall, reset the root password, and upgrade. The console is there for troubleshooting, recovery, and custom OS installations.

What if I want to deploy something that is not in the ctrl one-click apps catalog?

We’re always looking to add more popular options to the one-click catalog in ctrl. If the app you want is not listed yet, a RackNerd VPS special still leaves you in control. You get full root SSH access, so you can install and configure whatever stack you need.

Can I self-host apps on a RackNerd VPS special?

Yes. A RackNerd VPS special is a KVM VPS made for self-hosting and AI workloads. Every plan includes full root access, one-click apps in ctrl, and a 1Gbps port. Install AdminBolt, OpenClaw, Hermes Agent, AnythingLLM, Ollama, LibreChat, n8n, and more from ctrl, or bring your own software over SSH.

Can I run Docker, WordPress, or my own stack on a RackNerd VPS special?

Yes. On a RackNerd VPS special you can run Docker with Portainer in one click from ctrl, or install Docker yourself over SSH. WordPress fits AdminBolt, CyberPanel, or CloudPanel, which are also one-click apps, or you can set it up on your own. Full root access means a custom stack is always an option.

Which operating systems can I install on a RackNerd VPS special?

When you order a RackNerd VPS special, you can choose CentOS, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, Fedora, Debian, or Ubuntu. Custom ISO installs are available on request through a support ticket. Later, ctrl can reinstall the OS, and the HTML5 VNC console is there if you want to install from your own media.

Do RackNerd VPS specials include full root access and an IPv4 address?

Yes. Every RackNerd VPS special includes full root access, 1 IPv4 address, SSD storage, and a 1Gbps network port. You manage the server from ctrl or over SSH.

Yes. OpenClaw, Hermes Agent, AnythingLLM, Ollama, LibreChat, n8n, and Coolify are one-click apps in ctrl on a RackNerd VPS special. OpenClaw wants at least 8 GB of RAM. Hermes Agent, AnythingLLM, Ollama, and LibreChat want at least 4 GB. n8n or Coolify are comfortable from 2 GB. After the VPS deploys, open One-Click Apps in ctrl, select the app, and credentials show up in-panel when it’s ready.
